Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback Launches in UK at £34,695

Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback Launch

Kia has begun taking orders for its new electric hatchback, the EV4, in the UK starting at a price of £34,695 (around $47,700). This is the first time Kia has made an electric car in this hatchback style.

Kia has introduced its latest electric vehicle, which can travel an impressive 388 miles on a single charge. This makes it the longest-range electric car the brand has ever made. It’s also the first Kia EV4 electric hatchback vehicle to offer a driving range of over 380 miles, meaning you can go further without needing to recharge.

After introducing the sedan version in Korea in April, the EV4 quickly became the top-selling electric sedan in the country just a month later. It’s already gaining praise and being referred to as a “blockbuster success.”

Technical Specifications

The base model of the EV4, called “Air,” comes with two battery sizes: one that lets you drive up to 273 miles on a full charge and another that can take you as far as 388 miles. If you choose the sporty “GT-Line” or the high-end “GT-Line S” versions, you’ll get the larger battery only, which provides a range of about 362 miles.

All EV4 hatchback models feature a single front motor that delivers 201 horsepower and 283 Newton-meters of torque. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 7.5 seconds, making it quite speedy for everyday driving.

The EV4 hatch can quickly recharge its battery from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes. If you have the larger battery version, it will take about 31 minutes to charge to the same level when using a fast charger.

Interior and Technology

The interior of the vehicle is designed with a modern look similar to Kia’s newest electric models, such as the EV3 and EV9. At the center, there’s a new connected car system called the Navigation Cockpit, which features two large 12.3-inch screens that display important information for the driver and entertainment options. There’s also a smaller 5.3-inch touchscreen that makes it simple to control heating and ventilation, ensuring a comfortable ride.

Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback will feature a smart assistant powered by ChatGPT, similar to what you find in the EV3. This car will also introduce some exciting entertainment options, such as a “Rest mode” for relaxing and a “Theatre mode” for a movie-watching experience. Additionally, it will be the first Kia vehicle to include popular entertainment apps like Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube, making your time on the road much more enjoyable.

A sleek glass panel, measuring 30.0 inches and floating above the dashboard, spans most of the EV4’s front interior. This modern panel features a large digital display for the speedometer and other important information, as well as another touchscreen for navigation and entertainment. There’s also a smaller touch panel that lets you control the climate settings for a comfortable drive.

The Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback has a roomier interior compared to Kia’s K4 compact sedan. It includes front seats that can recline and have leg rests that pop up, allowing you to relax comfortably while you charge your car at public charging stations. You can unlock your car using your smartphone or Apple Watch, making it convenient and high-tech. Additionally, Kia’s entertainment system is capable of receiving updates wirelessly, so you always have the latest features.

Design and Practicality

When all the seats are up, the electric hatch offers a cargo area of 435 liters. Kia says this makes it one of the most convenient cars in its category for carrying things.

The Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback hatchback measures approximately 4.43 meters long, 1.86 meters wide, and 1.49 meters tall. To give you a better idea of its size, it’s similar to the Kia XCreed, making it a compact choice for those who appreciate a practical design. The EV4, like its smaller version, the EV3 hatchback, has mostly kept the same basic design that was shown in 2023. They share many of the same features and structures.

Market Competition

It will mainly be available as a hatchback in Europe, where it will compete directly with models like the Citroën ë-C4, Volkswagen ID 3, and Volvo EX40.

The Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback will come in two styles: a hatchback and a sedan. The hatchback is similar in size to the Hyundai Kona Electric, while the sedan is longer than the Tesla Model 3 because of its extended back end.

US Market Outlook

The starting price of the 2026 Kia EV4 Electric Hatchback is expected to be about $39,000, with higher-end models going up to around $49,000, depending on the features and options you choose.

Kia is introducing its first electric sedan, the EV4, which marks a shift away from the typical SUV style of their electric vehicles. Similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the EV4 is built on a special platform designed for electric cars. However, unlike the Ioniq 6, which can charge more quickly thanks to a more advanced system, the EV4 uses a simpler setup that takes a bit longer to charge when using fast charging stations.

Kia offers two battery options for their electric vehicles. The smaller battery is 58 kilowatt-hours and is designed to give you a driving range of about 235 miles on a single charge. For those who need to travel longer distances, there’s a larger battery available at 81 kilowatt-hours, which can provide up to 330 miles of range. This makes it a better choice for people who spend a lot of time on the road.

Production and Availability

Kia will start making the EV4 hatchback at its factory in Slovakia. This move is aimed at speeding up deliveries, which are expected to begin this fall.

It will join the EV3, EV6, and EV9 in the brand’s European lineup. The prices for the EV4 sedan haven’t been revealed yet, and it will arrive in the UK later than the hatchback version. This delay is due to the sedan being manufactured in South Korea, while the hatchback is being built in Slovakia.

Future Developments

All Kia electric vehicles (EVs) will have exciting high-performance versions. These top-of-the-line models are anticipated to feature dual motors and all-wheel drive, offering impressive power and speed that can compete with the sporty MG 4 EV XPower.

An all-wheel-drive version will be coming later and will offer more power. Kia shared some exciting news on Monday about a new version of their electric vehicle, called the EV4 Fastback. While they didn’t provide many details about this new model, they mentioned that more information, including pricing and specifications, will be available soon.
